Prabal Gurung is a star in the fashion world. Born in Singapore, Gurung was raised in Nepal and started his career in designer fashion in India. He attended the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi and worked with other designers as an intern. In the late 1990s, Gurung relocated to New York City, where he went to the Parsons School of Design and interned under Donna Karan.

After five years as the director of design for Bill Blass, Gurung would finally strike out on his own, launching his own collection in the late 2000s. Today, many celebrities have been seen wearing Gurung`s creations and given his label`s current success, the number is sure to increase in popularity over the coming years.

Prabal Gurung is a long-time favorite of Michelle Obama, as she`s worn other pieces from the designer at previous events. At the memorial concert, Michelle wore an oversized bow and white tank from Gurung`s 2010 spring collection.

Media empire giant Oprah Winfrey wore a red Prabal Gurung dress on the Christmas cover of her “O” Magazine. The cover featured Oprah and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

Anna Paquin, currently known for her leading role on the hit show True Blood, wore a pink Prabal Gurung dress to the 10th anniversary celebration of the Point Foundation. She accented the pink dress with black pumps and a red purse.
